CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team went into the half leading by 16, and LCCC added to that lead in the second half coming away with the 103-85 win in the Region IX Tournament First Round on Saturday at the RAC.
Laramie County advances to the quarterfinals and improve to 21-10 on the season. LCCC will now travel to Gillette College who is hosting the Region IX Tournament. They will meet up with No. 4-seed from the North Sheridan College on Thursday, March 9th at 3 p.m.
Sophomore Alfonzo Anderson finished with 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Classmate Ola Ayodele added 18 points and a team-high two blocks. Landon Taliaferro had 15 points, connecting on three 3-pointers. Freshman Da'Zhon Wyche finished with 14 points and nine assists. Dominik Heinzl had 11 points and nine rebounds.
McCook Community College was led by D'Von Moore with 23 points. Brody Sharkey had 18 and Lewis Diankulu had 11 points. The Indians shot 48.4 percent from the floor.
McCook never led in the contest but kept the game within reach in the first half. LCCC led 51-35 at the half. The Golden Eagles shot 55.9 percent from the field, 51.9 percent from the 3-point line and 56.5 percent from the foul line.
