CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team (0-3) fell to Salt Lake Community College 3-1 in the Golden Eagles home opener.
After dropping the first two matches, the Golden Eagles looked to take an early lead on Salt Lake, but Israel Hernandez had his shot cleared off the line in the 12th minute. Salt Lake applied the pressure after that earning a free kick a minute and scoring on a quick restart in the 13th minute. A minute later a cross from the left side was sent in and flicked on to the back post where it found its way to a Bruin player who scored to make it 2-0.
The Golden Eagles answered a minute later with goal from Eddie Mercado in the 14th minute off a free kick. The Bruins got a third goal in the 33rd minute.
The scored remained 3-1 for the remainder of the half. The two teams combined for a total of 13 shots through the first 45 minutes.
The match would end 3-1.
The Golden Eagles will play Iowa Western on Sunday, September 3 at 12:00 PM at LCCC Soccer Field.
