Cheyenne, WY – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles fell to Otero Junior College at the RAC 65-47 on Friday night. The Golden Eagles were able to get on the scoreboard early in the first quarter but the second quarter had the Rattlers pull away outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-9 in the second. The Rattlers went on a 11-0 run to a take a 25-15 lead. The Golden Eagles would trim the lead but OJC took a 34-22 lead into the half.
The third quarter was tight and both teams each scored 14 points in the quarter. The Rattlers pulled in the fourth quarter for the win.
The Rattlers out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 50-34, LCCC had eight steals forced OJC into 19 turnovers. The Golden Eagles shot 85.7 percent from the charity stripe making 12-14. They struggled from the field though shooting 26.2 percent. LCCC had seven assists in the game.
Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) poured in a team-high 13 points shooting 4-of-8 from the field for 50 percent. The 13 points matches her career high from earlier in the year. Aerial Stephenson (Garland, Texas) contributed 11 points. Jessica Stoner (Centennial, Colorado) had three steals, while Gabi O'Connor (Colorado Springs, Colorado) assisted with 10 points. Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) dished out three assists and Courtney Walker (Las Vegas, Nevada) pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles are off for a couple of weeks for the holiday break and then travel Adams State JV in Alamosa, Colorado on January 2 at 5 p.m.
