CHEYENNE – An offensive performance by Western Nebraska Community College sent Laramie County Community College to its fifth straight loss. LCCC fell 93-56 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars outrebound the Golden Eagles 40-37 in the contest and LCCC committed 20 turnovers to WNCC's 15.
The Golden Eagles (2-12) started slowly Saturday, Falling behind early in the half. A late push in the first cut the WNCC lead to 42-29 at the break.
The second half was all Western Nebraska as they outscored the Golden Eagles 51-27 in the half.
Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) finished with a team-high 16 points. Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) was the only other Golden Eagle in double figures with 14 points. Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) registered seven points and a team-best four assists. Caleb Davis (Grand Junction, Colorado) scored six, Ashraf Tchadouwa (Toronto, Canada) and Yusef Washington Jr. each had four in the defeat.
LCCC will begin Region IX North play Wednesday with a game at Northwest College.
