The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team opened its 2025 home slate with a hard-fought weekend, earning a 1–0 victory over Trinidad State College on Friday before falling 1–0 to Otero College on Saturday.
Friday, September 19 – Villanueva's First-Half Goal Secures Win Against Trinidad
The Golden Eagles kicked off their home opener in style, defeating Trinidad State 1–0 at home. The decisive moment came in the 28th minute, when midfielder Kyonosuke Chikamoto slipped a through ball that sent Tristan Villanueva in behind the defense. Villanueva calmly finished his 1v1 chance, giving LCCC the advantage.
The Golden Eagles controlled much of the play, outshooting Trinidad 18–10 with 11 shots on goal. Defensively, LCCC held firm, limiting the Trojans to just three shots on target. Goalkeeper Joshua Faerber anchored the back line, making key stops to secure his second clean sheet of the season.
Saturday, September 20 – Penalty Kick Sinks LCCC Against Otero
Less than 24 hours later, LCCC returned to action against Otero College in a tense Region IX battle. Despite creating multiple chances, the Golden Eagles couldn't find the back of the net, falling 1–0.
The game's only goal came in the 74th minute, when Otero was awarded a penalty. Prince-Ivan Nginyu converted from the spot to break the deadlock. LCCC outshot Otero 15–11 and forced goalkeeper Ivan Dorado Madera into five saves, but couldn't capitalize on their opportunities.
On the other end, Faerber again impressed, recording six saves to keep the Golden Eagles within reach. Midfielders Evan Perez and Luis Ramirez both tested the keeper with dangerous efforts, but the finishing touch eluded the home side.

The Golden Eagles (5–3 overall) showed both their defensive resilience and attacking potential across the two matches. Villanueva's clinical finish highlighted their ability to strike decisively, while the Otero game underlined the need for sharper finishing in tight contests.
