The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team wrapped up its weekend home stand with a 1–1 draw against Northwest College on Friday and a 1–0 defeat to Central Wyoming College on Saturday. Despite controlling large stretches of both matches, the Golden Eagles were left frustrated by missed opportunities in front of goal.
Friday, October 3 – LCCC 1, Northwest College 1
LCCC started the weekend strongly, dictating tempo and dominating possession against a well-organized Northwest College side. The visitors struck first in the 15th minute, as Jake Coltart finished at the near post off a cross from Shota Akima to make it 1–0.
The Golden Eagles responded in the 33rd minute when Jamaul Lovelace slipped a precise pass into Kyonosuke Chikamoto, who finished coolly to level the match at 1–1. LCCC continued to push for a winner, outshooting Northwest 19–6 and earning six corner kicks, but were unable to find the decisive goal.
Goalkeeper Joshua Faerber made key saves late to preserve the draw, as the Golden Eagles settled for a point in Region IX play.
Saturday, October 4 – Central Wyoming 1, LCCC 0
Less than 24 hours later, the Golden Eagles were back on the pitch against Central Wyoming College in another tight contest. LCCC created numerous chances and held the momentum for much of the match, firing 12 total shots (6 on target) and earning 10 corner kicks.
However, the game turned in the 65th minute when LCCC went down to ten men following a red card. Central Wyoming capitalized five minutes later, earning a penalty that Leonidas Papanikolaou converted in the 70th minute to give the visitors the lead.
Despite relentless attacking pressure late in the game — including strong efforts from Karson Busch (3 shots on goal) and Gilberto Vargas — the Golden Eagles couldn't find an equalizer.
Weekend Recap
Across the two matches, LCCC showed control, work rate, and creativity in possession but were made to rue missed chances. Chikamoto's goal and Lovelace's assist stood out as bright moments, while Faerber continued his consistent form in goal.
The Golden Eagles (5–4–3) remain firmly in the Region IX playoff mix and will look to translate their positive performances into results as they look forward to there playoff battle.
