MCCOOK, NE - The Golden Eagles (5-3) put together their best defensive performance of the season, holding the McCook Indians (4-3) to 37 points in a 53-37 win on Friday night in McCook, Neb.
LCCC's defense held the Indians to a 25.9 shooting percentage as McCook scored single digits in three of the four quarters. 37 points allowed was the fewest points allowed by the Golden Eagles defense this season and was the second time this season they allowed less than 50 points in a game.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter and built on that advantage in the second, outscoring McCook 20-15.
Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, leading all scorers
The Golden Eagles and Indians combined to scored 14 points in the third quarter before LCCC pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring McCook 16-8.
Ximena Gutierrez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) scored six points in the fourth quarter, ending the night with eight points and 10 rebounds.
LCCC is back in action on Monday in Scottsbluff, Neb. against the Western Nebraska Cougars at 5:30 pm.
