LCCC Shows Heart in Narrow 76–69 Loss to Thunderbirds

CHEYENNE, Wyo. —
Laramie County Community College (LCCC) nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback Friday night, but fell 76–69 to New Mexico Junior College in a hard-fought contest at home.

After trailing 40–26 at halftime, the Golden Eagles stormed back with a dominant third quarter, outscoring NMJC 25–9 to cut the deficit to just two points heading into the final frame. Despite the surge, NMJC responded with a 27-point fourth quarter to escape with the win.

Hannah Briskey led the charge with 18 points and 7 rebounds, converting 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Jessica Taylor added 11 points, including three three-pointers, while Helena Salazar Meinesz and Selenay Tanik chipped in 10 points apiece. Alicia Trujillo provided a spark off the bench with 7 points and 3 assists.

The Golden Eagles dominated the glass with 41 rebounds and shot an impressive 80% from the free-throw line (12-of-15). Their third-quarter explosion showcased resilience and energy, but 34.2% shooting from the field.
