The Region IX Women's Soccer Semifinal between #1 seed Laramie County Community College (LCCC) and #4 seed Central Wyoming College (CWC) delivered a thrilling contest, as both teams showcased grit, determination, and high-level play. In the end, LCCC emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, earning a spot in the Region IX Championship match.

From the opening whistle, LCCC came out with intensity, pressing high and creating early scoring opportunities. However, Central Wyoming matched their energy, with a resilient defensive line and a standout performance from goalkeeper Madilyn Shillig, who recorded an impressive 13 saves on the day.

Despite LCCC's attacking pressure, the first half remained scoreless until freshman forward Jocelyn Trejo made a decisive move in the box. After receiving a pass, Trejo turned sharply and was brought down by a CWC defender, earning a penalty kick. Freshmen defender Victoria Espinoza stepped up to the spot and calmly slotted the ball home, giving LCCC a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half mirrored the first, with both teams battling for control and chances. LCCC's persistence paid off again when defender Ekena Little cleared the ball upfield to forward Emily Sheather. Sheather quickly distributed the ball wide to Jentrie Porter, who delivered a pinpoint diagonal pass into the path of freshman Avery Anderson. Anderson took on Shillig in a one-on-one and coolly finished to double LCCC's lead.

CWC continued to fight, but LCCC's defense held firm to preserve the shutout.

Following the match, LCCC Head Coach Lugo Arenas praised his team's performance and resilience:

"I'm proud of the way our team stayed composed and stuck to the game plan. Central Wyoming gave us a tough match, but our players showed heart and executed when it mattered most. We're excited for the opportunity to compete for the Region IX Championship at home."

With the win, LCCC advances to host Casper College in the Region IX Championship. The matchup promises to be another intense showdown as both teams vie for the title and a spot in the national tournament.
