ROCK SPRINGS, WY - The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles volleyball team (9-11, 1-2) dropped the opener a weekend road trip, losing 3-1 to Western Wyoming (3-15, 1-1) on Friday night.
The Golden Eagles and Mustangs played a back-and-forth first set in which the Mustangs pulled away to win the set 25-20.
Rigan McInerney (Gillette, Wyo.) led the Golden Eagles with 24 kills in the loss.
LCCC came back to win the second set 25-23, holding off the Mustangs to even the match.
Shae Halls (Carpenter, Wyo.) led the Golden Eagles with 20 digs while Shelby Veenstra (Twins Falls, Idaho) recorded 34 assists.
Western Wyoming would win the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-15 to win the match.
The Golden Eagles head to Casper to take on the Thunderbirds Saturday, October 2 at 3:00 pm.
