CHEYENNE, WY - The Laramie County Community College volleyball team is preparing to host one of the biggest tournaments in the nation this weekend as they are bringing multiple nationally ranked teams and national tournament qualifiers to Cheyenne and the Blue FCU RAC on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 

The event is will be the first athletic competitions to be held in the newly remodeled Blue FCU Recreation and Athletics Complex on the LCCC campus. The Golden Eagles are opening it in style with multiple teams with national recognition making their way to Wyoming's capitol city. 

The list begins with the top team in the nation, the defending NJCAA Division I national champions in Florida Southwestern State College who entered the 2024 season as the #1 team in the preseason polls. They are joined by five other nationally ranked teams and three other teams who were represented at the national tournament in 2023 the full list includes:

• #1 Florida Southwestern State College Buccaneers (defending national champions)
• #3 Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen (5th place at the 2023 national tournament)
• #12 New Mexico Military Institute Broncos
• #16 Casper College Thunderbirds (national tournament qualifier)
• #18 Colby Community College Trojans (national tournament qualifier)
• #19 Eastern Florida State College Titans
• Central Arizona College Vaqueras
• Seward County Community College Saints
• Trinidad State College Trojans

Matches will begin on Thursday night with the first match at the Blue FCU RAC pitting the LCCC Golden Eagles against the Central Arizona Vaqueras at 6:00 pm.

Friday will feature nine more matches with the host Golden Eagles closing out the day against the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos at 7:00 pm. Saturday is even busier with ten matches to wrap up the tournament, with LCCC facing off against FSW at 11:00 am and finishing the tournament with a battle against the Colby Community College Trojans at 5:00 pm.
