Garreaud, Fleta Lift Golden Eagles Over Trojans

TRINIDAD, CO - The Golden Eagles (6-4) scored 30 points in the first quarter on their way to a 76-65 win over Trinidad State (1-3) on Saturday afternoon.

Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds leading the way for the Golden Eagles. 

LCCC jumped out to a 17-6 lead after Ximena Gutierrez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) three-pointer. The Golden Eagles got early contributions from the bench thanks to Mylie Tarnowski (Firestone, Colo.) scored a quick five points as the Golden Eagles outscored the Trojans 30-16 in the first quarter. 

Gutierrez ended the day with four points. 

Trinidad State opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run before Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) dropped in a layup to stop the run. Trinidad State outscored the Golden Eagles 20-10 in the quarter, cutting the Golden Eagles' lead to 40-36 at the break. 

Terron finished with 11 points and three rebounds. 

The Golden Eagles saw their lead disappear in the third quarter before the Golden Eagles ended the quarter on a 4-0 run thanks to a Lucia Fleta (Tenerife, Spain) steal and layup and a Taylor Gollhofer putback, putting LCCC in front at 55-54.

Fleta came off the bench and scored 13 points while grabbing four rebounds. 

LCCC pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 20-11 to finish off a season sweep of Trinidad State. 

The Golden Eagles return home on Wednesday to face Eastern Wyoming at 5:30 pm.
