Laramie County Community College (LCCC) showed resilience on the road Thursday night, but ultimately fell to Northwest College 74-46 in a Region IX contest at Cabre Gym.
Despite a slow start, the Golden Eagles fought to stay competitive, cutting into the lead in the second quarter with improved shooting. LCCC's defense forced several turnovers and created opportunities, but offensive struggles and Northwest's size advantage proved challenging.
Sabela Carro led the scoring effort with 12 points, including two three-pointers, and added three assists. Selenay Tanik contributed eight points and showed poise at the free-throw line, going 2-for-2. Hannah Briskey battled inside for six points and four rebounds, while Nuria Florensa added five points and five boards.
The Golden Eagles finished with 13 steals, showcasing their defensive hustle, and scored 14 points off turnovers. Bench contributions were solid, with players like Irelynd Barnes and Glorielle Mukeba combining for six points and strong energy.
While LCCC shot 27.4% from the field and 17.2% from three-point range, their effort on defense and ability to force mistakes kept them fighting throughout the game. The team will look to build on these positives as conference play continues.
