CASPER, Wyo. — January 17, 2026 — Laramie County Community College delivered a resilient and competitive performance Saturday afternoon, going toe-to-toe with Casper College before falling 64–49 in a hard-fought conference matchup at Casper's home court.
LCCC opened the game with confidence, trailing by just one point (14–13) after the first quarter and holding Casper in check defensively through the early stages. The Golden Eagles continued to battle in the second quarter, maintaining composure on the road and heading into halftime down only five points at 30–25.
The Golden Eagles showcased strong ball movement and effort on the glass throughout the contest, finishing with 30 total rebounds, including nine offensive boards that created multiple second-chance opportunities. LCCC's ability to compete physically against Casper's roster kept the game within reach well into the second half.
Offensively, Sabela Carro led the way for LCCC with a standout showing, scoring 16 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting performance. Carro also added seven rebounds, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor and pacing the Golden Eagles throughout all four quarters.
Additional contributions came from across the lineup, reflecting LCCC's balanced approach. Selenay Tanik chipped in six points and three rebounds, while guards Nuria Florensa and Julia Sanz Bonet each finished with five points, helping keep the offense moving against consistent defensive pressure.
Defensively, the Golden Eagles forced Casper into contested shots from the perimeter and held the home team to 18.2 percent shooting from three-point range, limiting easy scoring opportunities from beyond the arc. LCCC also recorded five steals and a blocked shot, creating extra possessions and momentum swings throughout the game.
Casper college extended its lead in the third quarter and sealed the contest at the free-throw line in the fourth, but LCCC remained composed and competitive until the final buzzer. The Golden Eagles connected on 13-of-21 free throws, an encouraging sign of execution in pressure moments on the road.
