LCCC Battles Through Tough Road Test Against Central Wyoming College

RIVERTON, Wyo. (Jan. 21, 2026) – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team faced a challenging environment on Wednesday evening, falling 69–43 to Central Wyoming College at the CWC Gymnasium. Despite the outcome, the Golden Eagles showed resilience and effort throughout the contest, particularly on the glass and in second-chance opportunities.

LCCC entered the matchup looking to secure its first conference victory and battled through adversity against a CWC squad that shot efficiently from the field and beyond the arc. The host Rustlers jumped out to an early lead behind a strong first-quarter shooting performance, putting LCCC in early catch-up mode.

One of the bright spots for LCCC was its work on the offensive boards. The Golden Eagles collected 10 offensive rebounds and converted those opportunities into 12 second-chance points, showcasing their physicality and persistence inside. Freshman Glorielle Mukeba provided a spark in the paint, grabbing five total rebounds, including four on the offensive end, while battling through contact all night.

Hannah Briskey led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 11 points, adding six rebounds in just 24 minutes of action. Her presence inside helped LCCC compete in the paint, where the Golden Eagles scored 18 points against a tough CWC interior defense.

Off the bench, Alicia Trujillo delivered a strong performance, contributing 10 points on an efficient shooting night, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. Irelynd Barnes also knocked down two three-pointers, finishing with six points and four rebounds, giving LCCC valuable perimeter production.

Defensively, the Golden Eagles forced 15 turnovers and recorded 10 steals, with Sabela Carro and Helena Salazar Meinesz combining for three steals and three blocks. LCCC's defensive pressure helped limit CWC's second-chance opportunities despite the Rustlers' overall shooting success.
