Golden Eagles Show Grit at Sheila Worley Tournament Despite Tough Losses

The Golden Eagles women's volleyball team demonstrated heart and resilience at the Sheila Worley Tournament in Sterling, Colorado, facing off against some of the nation's top junior college programs.

Friday, Sept. 12

  • vs. #3 Barton Community College — L, 3–0
  • vs. New Mexico Junior College — L, 3–2
    In a thrilling five-set battle against New Mexico Junior College, the Golden Eagles pushed their opponents to the limit, showcasing tenacity and competitive spirit.

Saturday, Sept. 13

  • vs. #18 Iowa Western Community College — L, 3–2
  • vs. #9 Odessa College — L, 3–1
    Saturday brought another five-set showdown, this time against Iowa Western, where the Golden Eagles again proved they could hang with elite competition. Despite falling short, the team's performance was marked by determination and growth.

Though the weekend ended without a win, the Golden Eagles left a strong impression, battling through close sets and refusing to back down against nationally ranked opponents. The team's effort and fight throughout the tournament signal a promising trajectory as the season continues.

Conference play begins Tuesday, Sept. 23 as the Golden Eagles host Eastern Wyoming College at 6:00 PM in the Blue Recreation and Athletics Complex. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they kick off their conference campaign at home.
