The Laramie County Community College (LCCC) Golden Eagles Volleyball team kicked off their conference season with a commanding 3-1 victory over Eastern Wyoming College on Tuesday night, improving their overall record to 9-8.
LCCC came out strong in Set 1, hitting an impressive .400 as they set the tone early. After a setback in Set 2 (18-25), the Golden Eagles regrouped and surged back to take Sets 3 and 4, securing the win in front of a supportive home crowd.
Leading the charge was Sila Yildiz, who posted a .500 hitting percentage with 14 kills, 3 block assists, and 1 solo block. Beatrice Nani added to the offensive firepower with 12 kills, hitting .417, and contributed 6 block assists and 3 aces. Sophomore setter Addison Schreurs orchestrated the attack with 36 assists, while also tallying 10 digs and 4 block assists.
"This was a great team win to start conference play," said Assistant Coach Janie Crocker. "We saw strong performances across the board and great resilience after dropping the second set."
The Golden Eagles will hit the road this Saturday, September 27, traveling to Rock Springs, WY to take on the Western Wyoming Mustangs, who currently hold a 2-15 record. LCCC looks to build on their momentum and continue climbing in the conference standings.
