Golden Eagles Fall in Region IX Tournament Opener Against Western Nebraska

Laramie County Community College's volleyball team, the Golden Eagles, opened their Region IX Tournament campaign this morning with a hard-fought match against host Western Nebraska Community College. Despite a strong effort, the Golden Eagles fell in four sets: 13-25, 25-19, 18-25, 19-25.

Sophomore outside hitter Ella Lopez led the team with a standout performance, recording 12 kills, 11 digs, and 1 block assist. Middle blocker Sila Yildiz added 10 kills and 3 solo blocks, while Beatrice Nani contributed 6 kills, 1 solo block, and 3 block assists, showcasing the team's defensive grit at the net.

Setter Addison Schreurs orchestrated the offense with 34 assists, while also adding 4 kills and 10 digs. Libero Savannah Cummings anchored the back row with 14 digs and chipped in 2 service aces, helping keep the Golden Eagles competitive throughout the match.

With the loss, LCCC moves into the elimination bracket and will face either Trinidad State College or Casper College tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. MT. The Golden Eagles must win to keep their season alive and continue their pursuit of a Region IX title.
