CHEYENNE, WY - Sophomore Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) scored 17 points as the LCCC Golden Eagles (4-3) beat the Northeastern Plainswomen (1-3), 75-62, on Tuesday night.
After scoring 18 points in the Golden Eagles win over Trinidad State on Friday, Garreaud scored 17 points on Tuesday. Garreaud gave the Golden Eagles a two-possession lead with a putback basket in the midst of an LCCC 6-2 run in the first quarter, extending the Golden Eagles' advantage to 15-10. Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) hit a three before Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) hit a floater at the buzzer, giving the Golden Eagles a 20-14 lead after one.
Hester was the Golden Eagles' second-leading scorer, finishing with 15 points on 6-8 shooting while Terron ended the night with 13 points and five rebounds.
After a tightly played second quarter, the Golden Eagles opened the game up in the third, outscoring Northeastern 26-10, fueled by a 14-2 run capped off by a Hester steal and bucket.
Freshman Lucia Fleta (Tenerife, Spain) scored 10 points in the win.
LCCC held off the Plainswomen, winning its second consecutive game. The Golden Eagles hit the road Friday when they take on McCook at 4:30 pm (MST).
