CHEYENNE, WY - Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) scored a team-high 14 points as the Golden Eagles (6-5, 0-1) fell to the Eastern Wyoming Lancers (6-5, 1-0) 65-59 on Wednesday night.
The Golden Eagles were outscored 16-8 in the final quarter of play, seeing a lead slip away late.
LCCC once again started the game strong, scoring 22 first quarter points thanks in large part to a 11-3 run to open the game and eventually opening up a 11-point lead on a Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) jumper.
Garreaud ended the night with 11 points and six rebounds.
Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) opened the second quarter with a three before Eastern Wyoming went on a run, closing the gap to just three at 34-31 at the break.
Terron finished the night with five points and seven rebounds.
LCCC and Eastern Wyoming played about even in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles found themselves trailing before Hester tied the game with a jumper.
Eastern Wyoming opened the fourth quarter on a 10-3 run and the Golden Eagles couldn't recover.
Ximena Gutierrez (Glenwood Springs, Utah) tallied eight points while Lucia Fleta (Tenerife, Spain) has seven.
LCCC hits the road on Saturday as they head to Powell to take on Northwest at 2:00 pm.
