CHEYENNE, WY - Freshman Lucia Fleta (Tenerife, Spain) scored 18 points, helping the Golden Eagles beat Central Wyoming 53-38 in a Region IX play-in game on Saturday night.

After a low-scoring first quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Rustlers 21-7 in the second quarter, racing out to a 33-19 lead at the break.

Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) scored 11 points and hauled in a game-high 16 rebounds in the win. 

Only seven total points were scored in the third quarter between both teams as the Golden Eagles held the Rustlers to just four points. 

Ariadna Bleda (Barcelona, Spain) scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds while both Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) and Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) scored five points and grabbed five rebounds. 

LCCC edged Central 17-15 in the fourth, hanging on for the win. 

The Golden Eagles will face the two-seed out of the South, Western Nebraska, down in La Junta, Colo. on Thursday at 2:30 pm.
